Mentoring The Elite

FAQ

The questions we get asked most.

Common questions about youth athlete training at MTE.

Straight answers about who trains here, what a session involves, and how to start — in plain English, no jargon.

  • What sports does MTE cater for?

If your sport involves sprinting, jumping, changing direction or contact, the training applies. Athletes are not separated by sport — they train alongside each other, because the qualities underneath all of those sports are the same.

MTE is a youth athletic development company, not a sport-specific academy. The training builds the qualities underneath every sport — speed, strength, power, change of direction and resilience — so athletes from any sport train together.
  • What ability level does MTE train?

You do not need to be in a representative team to start. Every athlete is tested when they join, and the program is built off their own numbers — so a first-timer and a state-level player can train in the same session, doing different work.

We cater to a range of abilities, focusing on unlocking each athlete's full potential. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced player, our programs are designed to elevate your performance.
  • Who runs the programs?

Sessions are coached, not supervised. Someone is watching how your athlete moves and correcting it, rather than handing them a program and leaving them to it.

Our programs are run by a team of experienced coaches, former professional athletes, and sports science experts who are dedicated to nurturing young talent.

  • How can I track my progress?

Every athlete is tested on the same equipment each time, so improvement is a number that moved rather than a feeling. Those results, the program and the coach's notes all sit in the MTE+ App.

Our MTE App allows you to track your progress, access personalised training plans, and stay connected with your mentors throughout your journey.

  • Who is the Centre designed for?

Youth athletes, aged 10 to 19. The whole building was built for that age group rather than adapted from an adult gym, which is why the loading, the coaching and the session lengths are what they are.

The Centre is designed for aspiring elite youth athletes aged 10 to 19, whatever they play. It was built around athletic development rather than any single code.

We are proud to offer two scholarship placements at our flagship Artarmon site.
