What we'll be writing about here: youth athletic development, what the testing data actually tells us, and how to train a growing body.
This is where we'll write about the things parents and athletes ask us most: whether strength training is safe for a growing body, what a force plate number actually means, how to train around a full season, and what separates an athlete who keeps improving from one who plateaus at fifteen.
What we'll cover
- Youth athletic development, and why a 12-year-old is not a small adult
- What VALD testing measures, and how to read your own numbers
- Training in season without burning out
- Nutrition, sleep and recovery for athletes still growing
- What we see across the athletes who train at Artarmon
Why we're writing it
Education is one of the four pillars we build around. Most of what gets shared about youth strength training is either lifted from adult programming or invented on social media. We'd rather put our reasoning in writing and let it be checked.
Every youth athlete has untapped potential. MTE helps them realise it through holistic development and mentorship that meets them where they are.
If there's something you want covered, tell us — the questions we get asked in the gym are where most of these posts will come from.
